Previous Seasons

The next several pages contain the (more or less) complete production history of the Saint Clair Theatre Guild, starting with the Guild's very first production in the spring of 1967. This history has been compiled from the original playbills where possible, from newspaper articles if available, and from memory and hearsay where all else fails. If you have items such as playbills, posters or photographs that would help to fill in any gaps in the history, please call Tom Kephart at 765-7093 to arrange for them to be scanned.

This is a work in progress. Over time, we hope to add individual pages for each production, with complete cast and crew listings and scans of playbills, newspaper articles and photography.

A couple of brief notes: The building where the auditorium that served as the Guild's primary performance venue for 37 years is located has been variously known as "Saint Clair Intermediate School," "Saint Clair Junior High School," "Saint Clair Middle School," and presently the "East China Educational Center." Rest assured, they are all the same place, just renamed according to the then-current trends in education. (To confuse things even more, the building was originally Saint Clair High School, and some people call it that to this day.)

Another note involves a name you will see many times in these pages: Sue Daniels. Sue has directed dozens of productions for SCTG over her many years of involvement with the group, and to make sure you don't miss the early ones, we note that before she married Mark Daniels, she directed a few shows under her maiden name of Sue Scharnweber. Like the auditorium building's changing names, rest assured those two names equal the same dedicated person who has given thousands of hours of time to the Guild.

There would be no reason to write a history for a group like the Saint Clair Theatre Guild if not for the dedication of the many hundreds of individuals who have stopped by to work on one show or have made regular appearances on-stage or behind the scenes for many years. To everyone who has made the SCTG possible and this history necessary, we say "Thank You!"

Theatrically yours,

Tom Kephart, SCTG President and Amateur Historian
